Experience nature in Aš in the westernmost corner of the country
Start discoveringCongratulations. You have just received what may be the first comprehensive list of the most interesting trails in West Bohemia called Walking through Aš. These are the most popular trips of the locals, which we have recorded in a brochure that you can see on the Internet or directly at the Aš Information Centre. The routes of the individual trails are briefly, concisely and, above all, clearly described. You can use the brochure as an inspiration for interesting trips or follow the instructions you will find here. There are five trails in the publication Walking through Aš: On the Way to the Triple State, a hike to the Westernmost Point of the Czech Republic, a hike to the lookout tower on Háj Hill to the ruins in Podhradí, a walk from Doubrava along the Nature Trail through the valley of Bílý Halštrov and a hike to the Goethovy Rocks via the Bílý Halštrov spring. If you like a helping hand when travelling and want to learn something interesting, then Walking through Aš is the right thing for you.
The first trip includes the Nature Trail, which is located near the town of Hranice. It leads through the beautiful landscape of the protected area Bystřina – Lužní potok to the historical point where the borders of three countries meet – Bohemia, Bavaria and Saxony. On the way you will be accompanied by the little elf Trojmezníček, who will tell you interesting facts from nature and history. In total, you will meet 9 information boards: Tri-Messe, State Border, U Lenka, Perlorodka, Kaiserhammer, Tri-State and others.
Another interesting trail is the trail of the westernmost territory of our country. You can reach the westernmost point of the Czech Republic. On the way you will see the beauty of the Smrčiny Nature Park. You will visit the village of Krásná, Újezd, Štítarská Štítarská štola, the town of Aš and many other places worth seeing.
The following trip is full of legends and mystery. You will have the opportunity to see a beautiful view from the Háj lookout tower. In Podhradi you can see the ruins of Neuberg Castle. Just keep an eye out for the local ghost – Huckauf.
On the Doubrava – White Halstrov Valley trail, you will definitely enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the sound of the White Halstrov stream near the remains of the paper mill in Doubrava. The breathtaking castle in Kopaniny will definitely not let you pass by without stopping.
Last but not least, we recommend a trail that will take you to a place that is loved not only by climbers, but also by the German poet and novelist J. W. Goethe. The westernmost climbing site even got its name after him. The Goethe Rocks, a magical place ideal not only for climbing but also for a pleasant rest in a breathtaking landscape.
